監督ジョージ・ティルマン・ジュニアのメジャーデビュー作品。制作は、歌手であるベイビーフェイスとその奥方（当時）トレイシーが勤めた。そのベイビーフェイスがサントラも手がけ大ヒット。映画も、後にこのような作品が増えた程に、影響を与えた。主演に、歌手で元ミスユニバースのヴァネッサ・ウィリアムス、「ID4」のヴィヴィカ・Ａ・フォックス、「Love Jones／ラブジョーンズ」の二ア・ロング、「Rebound／リバウンド」のマイケル・ビーチ、「Clockers／クロッカーズ」のメーキー・ファイファー、「Family Thing／ファミリー・シング」のイルマ・Ｐ・ホール等。ブランドン・ハモンドは、本作品にて人気者になった。
