●^● 熱き思い

嫌いになる要素が全くない女優。何をやらせてもそつが無い。「Dirty Pretty Things / 堕天使のパスポート (2002)」でカッコイイ役を演じれば、「Tsunami: The Aftermath / ＴＳＵＮＡＭＩ　津波 (2006) (TV)」では普通の主婦を演じ、「Hotel Rwanda / ホテル・ルワンダ (2004)」は夫と離れ離れになる強い主婦を演じ、「The Secret Life of Bees / リリィ、はちみつ色の秘密 (2008)」は精神的に弱い難しい役をこなす。何でも出来ちゃう器用な美人女優。私も大好き。

●^● バイオ

ナイジェリアからの移民で政府で働いていた父と、ユダヤ系のアシュケナジムの母の間にロンドンで生まれたソフィー・オコネドー。しかし5歳の時に父が家族を捨てナイジェリアに戻った為に貧しい生活を強いられた。しかし本はいつもオコネドーの側にあったという。 16歳の時に学校を辞めて、洋服屋で働いていた。その時にハニフ・クレイシがロイヤルコートで開催する脚本家の為のワークショップの広告を見つけて行ってみる。しかし書くよりも読む事の方に才能を見出されたオコネドーは、古くはヴィヴィアン・リーも在籍していたイギリスの名門演劇学校の王国演劇学校（RADA）に進み演技を学び1990年に卒業。卒業後に国立シェイクスピアカンパニーにて舞台に立ったり、映画「Young Soul Rebels」に出演。数々のイギリスでのテレビへのゲスト出演をした後に、アメリカ映画「Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls」に出演しアフリカのプリンセスを演じた。1997年には「The Jackal」にてシドニー・ポワチエやブルース・ウィリス、リチャード・ギアと共演。 2002年には「Dirty Pretty Things / 堕天使のパスポート (2002)」に出演。2004年には「Hotel Rwanda / ホテル・ルワンダ (2004)」に出演し、アカデミー賞の助演女優賞にイギリス系の黒人女優として、1996年のマリアンヌ・ジャン＝バプティスト以来のノミネートとなった。本国イギリスのみならず、アメリカでも活躍する国際派。
