彼女が名声を得たドラマ「The Facts ot life」は残念ながら総集編みたいな番組しか見たことないが、もう一つのヒットドラマ「Living Single」での印象が残っている。クィーン・ラティファを出頭に曲者女優が揃う、その番組でも彼女は一際目立つ演技を見せていた。でも、私が一番印象に残るのが、ＢＥＴで放送していた「Hidden Blessing」というサスペンス映画。彼女が演じた悪役は、あまりの怖さにツボにはまった。

数多い子役が、子役だけで芸能活動を終えてしまうが、大人の女優として大成した珍しいキム・フィールズは女優のチップ・フィールズが母親で、ニューヨークに生まれ、ロスアンジェルスで育った。1972年にフィールズがまだ3歳の頃に「ロールスロイスに銀の銃」の続編「ハーレム愚連隊」の小さな役でスクリーンデビューした。その後にテレビミニシリーズ「ルーツ・ネクストジェネレーション」でも役を得て、それをきっかけにＴＶシリーズ「The Facts of Life」のレギュラーを獲得し、シリーズが9年間ものロングラン大ヒットとなり、彼女も名声を得た。90年代に入ると、人気のクイーン・ラティファが主演のドラマ「Living Single」が始まり、こちらも大ヒットした。自身のプロダクション会社も設立させたりと意欲的だ。
