ダグの魅力はなんと言ってもその陽気な笑顔と演技。見ているこちらまで明るくなる活力漲る演技だ。「クール・ランニング」で演じた陽気なジャマイカンがやはり一番印象的。こういうコメディアン俳優こそ、今後活躍していって欲しい。

ＮＹはブルックリンに生まれたダグ・Ｅ・ダグは、ティーンの頃から仕事を始めた。 17歳でスタンダップコメディを始め、大学に通いながら、ＮＢＣ　ＴＶのセキュリティーガードをして、チャンスを待った。ＮＹのハーレムにある有名なアポロシアターに出演中に、スパイク・リーに認められて、彼の映画「ジャングル・フィーバー」でスクリーンデビューを果たす。この演技が認められて、次の作品「Hangin' with Homeboys」では、ジョン・レグイザモやマリオ・ジョイナーと共に、主演を演じて、「Independant Spirts Award」の主演男優にノミネートされた。ファンの間では、陽気なジャマイカンを演じた「クール・ランニング」のサンカ役でおなじみだろう。
