なんとも聡明で美しく、この上ないくらいに演技が上手。完璧な女性とは彼女の事を言うのではないのだろうか？女性からも、そしてもちろん男性からも支持される女性が、このアンジェラ・バセット。彼女のような女優さんがもっと増えてくれたら...と願わずにはいられない。彼女と同じ時代を共有出来た幸せ。

ニューヨークで生まれ育った彼女は、高校の先生の強い進めもあって、イエール大に志願し、奨学金をもらって入学。そこで、演技の勉強を大学院を含めて７年も勉強をした。その後は、ブロードウエイやカルト好きファンには人気の「F/X」という映画の役にありつけるも、「Boyz N' the Hood」あたりに出るまでは、みんなの注目を集める事はなかった。「Malcolm X」の妻ベティ・シャバズやミニテレビシリーズのマイケル・ジャクソンの母役等を演じ、観客の注目を集め、ティナ・ターナーの自伝映画「What's Love Got to Do with It」でオスカーの主演女優にノミネートされるなど、今では実力ナンバー１。
